It depends on different perspective. if you say advertising is to sell a product, then yes advertising doesn't sell much. But if you say advertising is to create awareness towards product, then it is totally opposite with the topic. From my view, advertising is to create awareness towards products and attract audience towards the products or services.
Advertising is looked at by most as a tool to create overall awareness. This approach can in fact be a benefit to small business, if the message is right, if the awareness that is created, spells out a benefit. More often then not awareness advertising seems to be an attempt to win advertising awards instead of new clients
For example, McDonald's Malaysia Ayam Goreng commercial really went viral and attract people to buy their Ayam Goreng until they ran out of stock for a month. It shows that simple advertising can also create a big impact.
Some of advertising doesn't just give an awareness to the product but also towards the brand name and image. This depends on how the creativity and quality of the advertiser in presenting to the audience. Thus advertising sell more than just a product.
